I got my teeth out today at last.
I must say, this was quite the experience. My appointment was for 10:30am and I wasn't called in until 11:20am. Assholes had me sitting there until 12pm because it looks like there was only one doctor there (again). It was a bit irritating having to sit alone in that room with the utensils that they were going to use on me sitting right in front of me - sort of like in a dark sadistic way of rubbing in my face what was to come.
This time the doctor was a lady who definitely knew what she was doing! When we finally got down to business. She numbed my gums and then injected me with the anesthesia. This doctor had one heck of a good hand because it didn't hurt (much!). The only part that really hurt was when she injected the palate area. Anyway, during the injecting phase I made sure to dig my finger nails deep into my other fingers as hard as I could so that the pain of THAT area would distract me of any pain shooting from my mouth.
So after waiting for a few minutes for all the stuff to kick in, boy did it kick in! All of my lower face - including the bottom of my nose area - felt like a huge balloon. It was such an uncomfortable sensation I don't ever want to feel that again. The assistant guy that was there gave me water to rinse but forget it, all that water just spilled right out of my mouth as soon as I tried! It was hilarious and embarrassing. So later the doctor lady came back in and we started with the torture - which wasn't painful AT ALL. As a matter of fact, it was quick. She poked at the tooth with some contraption to make sure everything was numb. It was crazy how I didn't feel ANYTHING at all.
The doc lady started with the right tooth first and after 2 minutes or so of loosening it up, she pulled it right off. I was relieved because there was absolutely no sensation of a tooth being ripped out or anything, just a little pressure that wasn't scary at all. I kept my hands clutched tightly because I was afraid of what it would feel like when she pulled it out but thankfully it wasn't bad. She then proceeded with the left tooth and that one actually flew out of her grasp and fell to the floor!
So there you have it. I had my premolars extracted. I even went to class this afternoon after much consideration of just skipping it. I didn't because I had already missed earlier this week. Bad part was that I kept running into EVERYONE! Even one of the guys in my class that hardly ever says a word to me said "hello" to me as we passed. I muttered a hello right back without moving my mouth too much because I had to keep it shut to put pressure on the openings where my poor teeth use to be.
I'll be back on campus in a bit since tonight is first rehearsals for the vibratory play. I'm supposed to go in "movement clothing" for after we read through the script. I already told the stage manager that I probably can't do anything to crazy with movement because of my extractions (does that even matter? Who knows but I don't want to risk anything).
Now I'm just being very paranoid of not doing anything that will tamper with the blood clots in my openings. I can't spit, I can't suck through a straw, I can't have carbonated drinks, etc.
I guess this is the price one has to pay for beauty. I'll keep you posted.
