Quick note: Still haven't had my premolars extracted. Originally was scheduled to have the done at my relative's workplace tomorrow (the day before Thanksgiving, the horror!) but luckily the doctor had to reschedule for next Monday. Onward!
Last night was auditions for last two shows of the 2011-2012 season at the University. The shows being done are In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play and Arabian Nights. I had to perform two monologues to which I chose one from Chekhov's The Seagull for the vibrator play and the second one from the original "Arabian Night's Tales" The History of Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp.
I did all my warm ups and vocalization at home before heading to school (my audition time was for after 10pm) and got to the University around 9 o'clock. To make things sweet and short, I forgot the second half of my Chekhov monologue to which one of the directors, a professor whose acting 2 class I was in last semester and who saw me in Die! Mommie! Die! said to me that it was ok and that I can continue on with the second monologue - he was very kind. I did my Aladdin monologue and that was came out fine (thankfully). I was basically out of the University by 10 o'clock and on my way back home.
I really hate the fact that my nerves tend to get the best of me at auditions. I've noticed that it mostly happens whenever I have to do monologues at an audition. Whenever there is cold reading, I don't stress so much and I actually tend to do better with handling my nerves. Thankfully one of our last acting classes will be on auditions so I definitely cannot wait to take that course someday in the near future.
Well, I got called back for Arabian Nights and the call back will be held tomorrow from 7pm to around 10pm. I'm pretty excited about it because some of my classmates from my year also got called back for that show so it should be fun.
I already registered for my next term and, since I registered late, I only got to pick 2 classes: acting 4 and tech lab 2 in the scene shop. I must say that I am a bit nervous about having to work in the scene shop. I'm not good with measurements and all that stuff dealing with woods and stuff. Hopefully they can just put me to sweep the floors or something when we have to participate in helping out one of the productions in the spring.
Here's hoping that I get some part in Arabian Nights!
